Meet our Project Leaders

Brian Durk

Brian Durk - instrumental in starting the Kom Beekeeping Project in Cameroon in 1997 prior to the setting up of ‘Bees Abroad’.
In his time he has been Project Manager and Fundraiser.
Presently he manages projects in Cameroon, Nigeria and Ghana. He teaches beekeeping skills to students at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.

Julian Willford

Julian Willford - an experienced Beekeeper who has taken his skills to Kosoro in Uganda where he trains people in the local community.

 

Pam Gregory

 

Pam Gregory - Pam has kept bees since moving to farm in Wales in 1974. She worked for the National Bee Unit from 1976 until 2003. She holds the UK National Diploma in Beekeeping, a MSc in Overseas Rural Development and a Post Graduate Certificate in education. She has spent the last 12 years working with beekeepers in sub-Saharan Africa and has experience in Malawi, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, DR Congo and South Africa as well as Nepal, India and the Philippines. She has written a useful Basic Beekeeping Manual to help beekeepers in developing countries, especially those in Africa, get started in honey and wax production. Bisi

Adebisi Adekunle - Bisi is an Amateur beekeeper with 10 years experience in the UK (Temperate climate with Apis Mellifera Mellifera & hybrids) and in Nigeria (Tropical climate with Apis Mellifera Adansonni).  She is a member of Romsey (Hants), Gillingham & Shaftesbury (Dorset), Twickenham & Thames Valley Beekeeping Associations. Bisi is the Honey Show Manager for the Hampshire Honey Show and a member of Slow Food International and the British Beekeepers Assoc. (BBKA) 

Roy Dyche

Roy Dyche - a retired teacher and teacher-trainer, spent much of his working life in Africa. He took up beekeeping fifteen years ago and has managed our project near Uganda’s Lake Albert since 2008. He is also quite familiar with beekeeping in Zambia, having recently travelled 2000 miles round that country collecting material for a BBC radio programme on its honey industry. He is show secretary for the Dover and District Beekeepers’ Association.
