BEES ABROAD

From small beginnings, we have established
BEES ABROAD as a direct funding charity for beekeepers in developing countries.
You can help Bees Abroad by joining and helping the fund-raising activities in the UK.
There are also Bees Abroad Holidays organised to let you visit the projects and contribute to their funding.

More about BEES ABROAD

Bees Abroad is a charity
(Registration no.1108464 in the UK)

Aims of BEES ABROAD

The main aim is to provide education and technical advice in beekeeping and suitable business skills. This will usually be achieved by setting up and supporting field extension services, running training courses for local beekeepers and financing trainers.

Bees Abroad is a UK charity dedicated to the alleviation of poverty in developing countries through the advancement of the craft of beekeeping. Bees Abroad runs, funds and monitors beekeeping projects that it agrees to support.

Beekeeping
in the Developing World

Beekeeping in the developing world is not the same as beekeeping in the developed world and the trustees are keen that the right principles should be applied to the tuition to ensure it is appropriate for the country visited. Moves are taking place to develop a standard format of qualification for beekeeping teachers in developing countries and some of the Bees Abroad trustees are involved in this process.

Bees Abroad projects will be designed to become self-sufficient and will terminate after a defined period. They will have to be run with a properly formulated group structure and will be controlled by a project manager accountable to Bees Abroad.

Some More About Us>

We are a non profit-making organisation giving help to beekeepers and their families overseas.

At present we are operating beekeeping projects in Cameroon and Nigeria in West Africa, Malawi, Kenya and Uganda in East Africa and Nepal in Asia. These look set to expand. We have also had enquiries from other countries that we are assessing for the future. New projects are considered carefully and approved by a quorum of trustees at regular meetings. They must have a clear and defined goal and/or a costed means of achieving sustainability within a given time frame.
