Subject: Native Species CD
Hello, I'm one of the Presenters at Chester Zoo, and Juliet Osborne at Rothamstead, mentioned that I should email you regarding photographs of some of our native species. As part of our mission we are raising awareness of the plight of native species by producing a CD as a resource for local teachers and plan to give them free copies. It will contain information, activity sheets and PowerPoints on a variety of UK species. As we are a charity ourselves we were trying to reduce costs by using copyright free images. The member of staff who drafted this work used many images from ARKive for the PowerPoints knowing that images could be used for educational purposes (worksheets, PowerPoints etc.) and so it did not occur to her to check that they could be used on a CD that we were giving out free to teachers. However, one of my colleagues has checked the conditions of ARKive use and we were horrified to find that use on CD is excluded, fortunately it is not yet completed! However, time is at a premium and it would be difficult to source new photos so quickly. We are looking for pictures of some native species to replace the ARKive pictures. Juliet mentioned that you may have, copyright free pictures of the life cycle of the honey bee. We seem to have been able to find many other native species needed but the honeybee seems to be especially difficult to source. Thankyou for taking the time to read my email. Hoping for a reply at your earliest convenience, Liz
