Mo Vaughan (Bcrazy) has retired as Moderator and I would like to thank him for his help and support. He is particularly interested in the scientific side of beekeeping and was instrumental in the starting of the "Photography" and "Microscopy" forums, both of which have had some excellent threads.
Martin Adams (Adamsm) has agreed to become a moderator, and I am expecting a good working relationship with him. He is a knowledgeable and progressive beekeeper, as you can see from his thoughtful and helpful postings.
Roger Patterson.

Thank for all you input Mo, and I hope you stay around on this forum for a long time to come.
I know how difficult it can be moderating a forum and I therfore thank and wish Mo all the best for all his work here. :)
Best of luck Martin, I hope you have thick skin and broad shoulders! :D

Thanks Mo for all your hard work.
Mo, rest his sole, has moved on and gone to a better place:confused:
Roger, would it not have been practical to have held a democratic vote for a new moderator?
Some might say this appointment bears a resemblance the main BBKA bringing in things with out the vote or say-so of others?
Oh
Welcome Martin Adams (Adamsm) and all the best to you.

Thank you all for your support whilst I was a moderator.
Chris, Karin, V8landy, Norm ad Roger P. Thank you all.
I'll still be bashing away at anatomy and pollen ID for the foreseeable future.
Martin you won't need luck but you'll be busy, wishing you all the very best.
Regards;

V8landy,
I do not want to get into a lengthy discussion on this, but as you ask the question I think it would be rude not to answer.
This forum at the beginning of the year was a mess. Members were either abusing each other or leaving. The Moderators had no guidelines and were struggling to Moderate. There were some who wanted it closed down, but I argued against it, and I was asked by BBKA to oversee it. This I am doing, and from the messages I have received, and the comments that are sprinkled about the posts, it seems most members are supportive.
I believe firm moderation is needed to prevent little differences becoming wars within two posts. Anyone can see that most moderation is a gentle message, and not the heavy handed moderation one or two think it is.
In order to maintain high standards that are consistant I believe the Moderators should all be thinking the same way, and will agree with the guidelines and see they are used in a sensible fashion.
The problem with having a vote is that different members will have different standards, and that could lead to chaos. It is also wide open to abuse where a minority interest could hijack the lot, and I'm sure most won't want that.
Roger Patterson.
