Hi,

There are a number of these bees that have dug holes in my front lawn and I was wondering if you would be able to tell me what they are and something about them.

Photos here (http://s624.photobucket.com/albums/tt327/ShortFatBloke/Bee%20Pics/)

The holes are spread over an area of about 8m2 and the actual holes themselves are the thickness of a pencil (actually, to be more accurate, they're the size of a bee!).

I also have a short (30 second) video of one digging in the soil if it helps.

Regards,

SFB

Hi SFB

Looks to me like Andrena cineraria, the Grey Mining Bee.

The maps here seem to suggest that you might find it in Gloucestershire:

all the best
