This request was sent to the General Secretary. Please answer direct to Rob's email address at end of message. THANKS (Admin)

"-------------

Please let me introduce myself. My name is Rob Pilley and I am a Zoologist and Assistant Producer at John Downer Productions, a UK based wildlife TV production company making programs for the BBC.

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to this email.

We are currently developing a very exciting new project in which we look at and get right into the worlds most spectacular swarms and animal groups.

I am wanting to try and find amateur footage of bee swarms in strange places and how they are dealt with. For example, I have found some great footage of a killer bee swarm invading a football pitch in the USA or landing on a jet fighter on a military runway. Does anybody at your organisation have any similar footage of bees in strange places or situations where killer bees have attacked people or possessions? I don't mind what format it is shot on, I would love to see it if it is interesting and different and shows how the swarms can affect the human world.
I look forward to your reply and thank you in advance for your valuable time,

Kind Regards
Rob

Is it just me who gets annoyed about the media's apparent pleasure they seem to get when they talk about "killer" bees and bees attacking people. It is they who have labelled the Africanised Honey Bee as "killers" and I don't think it does anything to help the cause of the honeybee and beekeeping.

I hope he gets a zero response to his request for contributions.

What next? A Trevor Macdonald special?

Well said Whiskeywill, it is this sort of sensationalism that provokes the public into using spray cans of RAID.

For a qualified zoologist Rob Pilley BSc MSc ICD demonstrates surprising naivety if he thinks British beekeepers are going to help him pretend that swarms are dangerous or that killer bees exist in the UK. I could accept unusual locations or even amusing ones. Perhaps footage of the Irish attempt at the bee beard record might interest him.

I wonder if his original post was directed at Americans.

Yes well said everyone.

Even if we had "killer" bees, what sort of warped individual would go for the camcorder if their bees started attacking people?

Of all the posts that have been recently, removed or locked, this should be one of them.

I hope the admin have he sence to see what rubbish this guy is talking, and remove this post and decline his invite.

At least this one's not too OTT. I took the call and people were genuinely frightened. The opening line was "Help we've been attacked by bees". Of course nobody had actually been stung but people have been fed the "killer bee" stories too many times. We need to be redressing the balance NOT feeding people's fear as Rob Pilley's company are likely to be doing. A healthy respect is about right.

good thing is we can get rid of these destructive bees with this bee removal service (http://www.awesomebees.com).

That Bee removal service ad really goes for the scare tactics approach.
What would happen if one day you woke up and found a tiger standing over you? Along those lines you could call for the elimination of the worlds tiger population.
