Members of the public often mistake bumble bees and wasps for honey bees.It is a good idea to check that their identification is correct before promising to remove a 'swarm'.
Basingstoke and District Beekeeping Association has an active programme of meetings to interest both existing beekeepers and those who think they might like to learn more.
There are about 60 active members of all ages.
The beekeeping course is now fully subscribed and there is also a waiting list in case anyone drops out. This means that we will be unable to accept any more applications this year.Our apologies to any disappointed applicants.
Swarms of honey bees can happen between the end of April and the end of July.If you would like to collect swarm please contact the swarm coordinators Eric and Jenny Denton.
