Ted Hooper was a former president of the British Beekeepers’ Association and the influential author of Guide to Bees and Honey, which has sold more than 100,000 copies and been translated into more than 12 languages since publication in 1976.
Ted was born in Colyton, Devon over 90 years ago. When Ted grew up he did not wish to work in his father’s joinery and decorating business and he and Joy went to Fred’s beekeeping classes, and thereafter spent most of his lifetime working with bees and instructing others in the art of beekeeping.
The BBKA was sorry to receive the news of the loss of one of its honorary life members.
Jack was born on the 26th June 1917 the youngest of five children.
After a very brief period in Wexham Park Hospital, near Slough, Dr Eva Crane passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Thursday 6 September 2007 aged 95 years.
