BBKA wins Silver Gilt at RHS Tatton Park

The BBKA was delighted to win Silver Gilt for its display at RHS Tatton Park this month.
Along with the display of bee friendly plants the stand, run by Cheshire BKA on behalf of the BBKA also were able to welcome the 4,000th Armchair beekeeper into its AdoptaBeehive scheme, sponsored by Saga. This honour was shared by BBC wildlife presenter Terry Nutkins & 8 year old Laura D'Aguilar who fittingly attends the Busy Bee Nursery!
The success of the Adopt a beehive scheme has meant that additional adoptees Caroline from Lancaster and Hannah from Liverpool enabling people to adopt beekeepers from this region of the UK. They join the other adoptees that are keeping our supporters upto to date with their beekeeping experiences.
30 people were involved in the preparation and manning of the stand and over the five days of the show, which meant that thousands of people were given an introduction to beekeeping and the vital role that honey bees play in our eco system.
Public interest is at an all time high in beekeeping.
