Join BIBBA the Bee Improvement and Bee Breeding Association

 Get involved in bee breeding. Like all other forms of life bees can be improved by selective breeding. BIBBA encourages beekeepers to work together in breeding groups. Workshop - managing, stewarding, judging and exhibit preparation for honey shows

Great Yorkshire Show

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society in conjunction with the Yorkshire Beekeepers’ Association are keen to advance the promotion of honey exhibition and the roles that individuals need to know in running a honey show successfully, including the roles of the judge.  The facet of the workshops will break out into all areas of the world of honey shows, participants will be rewarded with far greater knowledge and understanding of the subject matter. The workshops are aimed at all levels of entrants that will include “hands on” involvement. The demonstrators are the most experienced in their field and are keen to impart their knowledge and skills to take honey shows forward for the benefit of future generations. The demonstrators on hand will include (subject to availability and confirmation):

Rob and Beryl Andrews - Cleveland – Stewarding roles.
Michael Badger – Yorkshire - Honey show organisation and its management.
John Chandler – Harrogate – Judging Beeswax Candles.
Bernard Diaper – Warwickshire – Judging critique.
Ivor Flatman – Yorkshire - Beeswax for exhibition.
David Kemp – Nottinghamshire - Judging Nucleus Hives with live bees.
Gerald Moxon – Kingston upon Hull - The correct way to judge “Ling” heather honey.
Mrs E M Osborn – Kent - The proper way to judge “Mead”.
Tom Salter Somerset – Judging critique.
Gary Francis – South Yorkshire – Photography.
Alan Woodward – Yorkshire – Exhibiting honey.
Michael Young – Northern Ireland – Preparing, Cooking and judging honey cakes.

Upon completion of the workshop candidates will be awarded a certificate of participation.

Saturday 10th May 2008 at the Yorkshire Beekeepers’ Associations “Normanby” Pavilion, Great Yorkshire Showground, Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Cost will be £30 per head including refreshments.
